Usage

  • This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Wikipedia fully protected redirects by default.
  • If an administrator has fully protected the redirect, then template {{Redirect category shell}} (Rcat shell) can be used to add one or more rcats to the redirect and will automatically sort the redirect to the Wikipedia fully protected redirects category. The Rcat shell detects protection levels automatically, so by default it will add this rcat to a redirect when it is first protected and then automatically remove it from the redirect if and when protection is lifted. See the Rcat shell's template documentation for details.
  • If the redirect has been added to the Cascade-protected list and has not been fully protected by an administrator, then this rcat will not be applied automatically by the Rcat shell and will have to be added manually. In this case, when the Rcat shell is used, apply this rcat to the top of the list as follows:

<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">

  1. REDIRECT (target page name)

</syntaxhighlight>

  • If used without the Rcat shell, then add this rcat to a redirect as follows:

<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">

  1. REDIRECT (target page name)

Lua error in Module:Effective_protection_level at line 63: attempt to index field 'TitleBlacklist' (a nil value).

  • Fully protected: This is a redirect from a title that is fully protected from editing for any of several possible reasons. It may have been protected by an administrator, or it may be on the Cascade-protected list, or both.
    • Please do not replace these redirected links with links directly to the target page unless expressly advised to do so below or elsewhere on this page, or if the change is supported by a policy or guideline.

Template:2nd rcat Template:3rd rcat Template:And so on </syntaxhighlight>

This is in accordance with the instructions given at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
  • This rcat is used to categorize fully protected redirects. Adding this rcat and populating the Fully protected redirects category does not in and of itself protect the redirect. Page protection can only be engaged by administrators.

Aliases

Printworthiness

  • In main-article namespace, many fully protected redirects are considered unprintworthy; however, there are many others that are printworthy, so there is no default sort for printworthiness. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in Template:Diff. Some rcats automatically populate either Category:Printworthy redirects or Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. Others, like this rcat, do not, and that means it is up to editors to choose which of those categories, Printworthy or Unprintworthy, is appropriate and should be populated. The rcats that are used separately to populate those categories are:

Either {{Redirect category shell}} or its alias/shortcut, {{Rcat shell}}, may be used.
